Basic Hummus

Ingredients

1 (15-ounce) can low-sodium garbanzo beans, drained and rinsed

1⁄4 cup water

1⁄4 cup olive oil

Juice of half a lemon (about 2 tablespoons)

2 cloves garlic

1⁄4 teaspoon black pepper

Pinch of salt

Directions

Wash hands well with soap and warm water.

Combine all ingredients in blender and process.

Stop blender periodically and stir down sides.

Process until smooth.

Store in a container with a lid for up to five days.

Serve with bread, crackers, or sliced veggies.

- Measuring spoons
- Rubber spatula

MIX IT UP!
- Add artichokes, roasted red peppers, or herbs to create new flavors!
- Instead of fresh garlic, use a 1⁄2 teaspoon garlic powder.
- Get the kids involved! Have them open the can of beans and measure out ingredients.
- Don’t have a blender? Mash beans and ingredients with a fork or potato masher instead.
