About the Garden Kitchen

We empower Pima County residents to build community wellness and make healthier choices through food, fitness, and gardening education.”

Direct Education: The Garden Kitchen education team works hard to provide free cooking, gardening, and physical activity classes to the community! We focus on skills-based, hands-on learning opportunities that empower individuals and families with the skills and knowledge to make healthier choices.

Events: Our annual Desert Foods Festival is a celebration of the local Sonoran Desert food shed. We feature wild and cultivated ingredients that have been harvested for centuries right in our backyard – and transform them into delicious & healthy recipes for today! Join us in the fall for this free, family-friendly event.

Policy, Systems, and Environmental Changes: As a complement to direct education, our team works to implement Policy, Systems, and Environmental changes throughout Pima County. These changes are aimed at making it easier for all community members to make healthy food and activity choices.

Community Partnerships: We partner with a variety of community partners to make change in the community! Through coalition work, direct partnerships, and trainings we seek to expand our reach and support wider community efforts to improve health and wellness for all.
