1 cup long or short whole grain rice (brown, black, red, pink, etc.)
2 1/2 cups water
pinch of salt (optional)
(yield 3 1/2 cup)

1. Wash hands well with soap and warm water.

2. Stir ingredients together in a medium saucepan over high heat.

3. When water comes to a boil, lower heat to a gentle simmer.

4. Cover and cook for 40 minutes. Turn off heat and leave lid on for 5 minutes.

5. Remove lid, fluff with fork and serve.
*Do not remove the lid during the cooking process.
