 2 cups raw sticky rice (Vietnamese, Thai or Chinese)

1.Wash hands well with soap and warm water.

2.In a large bowl, stir together sticky rice and enough cold water to cover by one inch. Soak rice for at least 2 hours or overnight. 3.To make a steamer basket, find a strainer that fits into a large pot without touching the bottom.

4.Drain rice well and transfer to the mesh strainer or steamer basket lined with a lint-free towel or cheesecloth. In the large pot, pour in several inches of water and bring to a boil.

5.Place steamer into pan, making sure it does not touch the boiling water. Cover steamer with pot lid and cook for 20 minutes.

6.Taste rice. It should be sticky and soft. If not cooked, stir rice around in steamer and cover to cook for an additional 5 minutes.

7.Enjoy warm or at room temperature with sauced vegetables.

Rice can also be mixed with chopped fruit, formed into balls and rolled in sesame seeds for a healthy dessert.
