Pima County Food Alliance Visioning Session on Food as Medicine

February 6 @ 5:30 pm - 7:30 pm

Pima County Food Alliance

PCFA is a coalition of community members and people who work throughout Pima County’s food system, such as farmers, market managers, agency staff, community organizers, university students, and researchers.

🎉 You’re invited! 🎉

Share your perspectives on healthy food service, food as medicine, and produce prescription programs in Pima County.

The Pima County Health Department (PCHD) has been awarded funding for the Racial and Ethnic Approaches to Community Health (REACH) grant, which aims to improve health, prevent chronic diseases, and reduce health disparities among racial and ethnic populations with the highest risk and burden of chronic disease.

The PCHD REACH team just shifted into a new focus on food systems and nutrition and contracted with Pima County Food Alliance and the Community Research, Evaluation, and Development (CRED) team at the University of Arizona to conduct a needs assessment and identify new partnerships and strategies for their work. The needs assessment is focused on two main topics – understanding how to improve healthy food access and produce prescription programs.

This visioning session is an opportunity for us to share the results of the interviews we’ve conducted with local businesses and organizations and get additional input from community partners on what food as medicine initiatives can look like in Pima County.

The PCHD REACH team will use the results to explore partnerships, local policies, and new strategies to support healthy food access and choices, especially in priority areas and populations of Pima County.

When: Thursday, February 6th, 5:30-7:30pm
Join when you can. There will be opportunities to provide written feedback as well as a facilitated bilingual conversation starting at 6:45pm.
Where: El Pueblo Recreation Center: 101 W Irvington Rd, Tucson, AZ 85714
